Take Care of America’s Veterans Act<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This bill addresses veterans\u2019 benefits, health care, counseling, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) personnel, VA infrastructure, and the Veterans Community Care Program (VCCP).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bill modifies various compensation programs for veterans, including by (1) allowing concurrent receipt of disability compensation and military retired pay for certain retirees with a combat-related disability, (2) extending entitlement for various benefits and services to remarried surviving spouses, (3) increasing the rate of dependency and indemnity compensation, and (4) establishing a supplemental monthly allowance for certain disabled veterans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bill also addresses VA education and training benefits, including by (1) modifying which independent study programs are covered under veterans\u2019 educational assistance benefits, (2) requiring Transition Assistance Program counseling to include a presentation about VA benefits, and (3) increasing the housing allowance rate for individuals pursuing apprenticeships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bill revises health care provisions, including by (1) expanding support and assistance provided to family caregivers, (2) extending the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program, and (3) expanding the scope of VA mental health research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among other elements, the bill<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. revises VA disability ratings for sleep apnea and tinnitus<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. expands eligibility for a memorial headstone or marker for the spouse, surviving spouse, child, or dependent of a veteran or member of the Armed Forces;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. addresses the administration of the VCCP and codifies the eligibility standards;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. establishes a standardized screening process for priority or routine admission to certain mental health care programs; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. addresses VA personnel, hiring, and infrastructure matters.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

President Trump’s Executive Order 14401 laid the foundation for advancing psychedelic-assisted therapies for combat veterans. Congress is now moving to codify and fund that vision through a major new veterans bill. The Brinkley Center<\/strong> and Kompassion<\/strong> support that progress but are urging lawmakers to advance an equal, parallel non-drug track: energetic medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Today, the Brinkley Center<\/strong> and Kompassion<\/strong> praised House VA Committee Chairman Mike Bost (R-Ill.), Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), and House Republican leadership for introducing H.R. 9237, the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act. The groups also support the growing effort to attach an amendment that would provide $50 million for psychedelic-assisted therapies for combat PTSD. However, they are calling for a parallel, non-drug track so veterans who cannot or will not use pharmaceuticals still have access to effective care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


    “<\/strong>I have been inside the VA for more than 40 years, sitting at the bedside of over 2,000 veterans at the end of their lives. But my understanding of the human body as an electrical and energetic system didn’t begin there \u2014 it began on September 17, 1975, when more than 180,000 volts passed through my body, stopped my heart, and left me clinically dead for 28 minutes. When I came back, I knew: we are energetic beings. That frontier must be explored now more than ever. Veterans are dying by suicide every day. TBI is stealing lives and futures. Every possible method must be tried. That means advancing energetic medicine now, as an equal track alongside psychedelics and pharmaceuticals.
